It all started a long time ago with a little girl in her Grans garden, making potpourri with a love of the outdoors and anything floral. Holly was only young but knew she wanted to work with flowers one day and said all those years ago- “ I will have a flower shop one day and I’ll call it Hollyhocks as my name is Holly”………. fast forward a few decades and as cliché as it sounds, the dream came true.
Starting in 2012, Holly and Ellen (her lovely Sister) opened their first business, a retail florist specialising in weddings. They worked together day in day out for years working hard at making a name for themselves in the local area by providing a friendly, knowledgable and family run shop. Ellen started a family a few years ago and is a full time mum, but works at peak periods and comes on weddings to support Holly and you’ll catch her zipping around the countryside delivering our lovely bouquets now and then.
Their Mum, Julie came on board working part time and manning the shop on the weekends while her girls went off and worked weddings each weekend. Popular with the locals and very well known for stopping for the famous Popmaster, Julie became quite the character in the business and still to this day even though retired, she still supports the shop when needed.
We work closely with local freelancers to bring on board when we have larger events, so no job is too big for us to complete.
Hollyhocks shop is based in Newton Abbot, just off the A380 main road to Torbay in Devon. Established in 2012 we spent the first 11 and a half years in our first home at Fermoys, Ipplepen where we built the business up and our customer base. We have recently moved the business to a huge unit only 10 minutes from the shop and is in a great location for anyone to get to being only 20 minutes from Exeter and 5 mins from Torquay. The business provides daily deliveries to the surrounding areas for gift, funeral and any occasion flowers as well as serving Devon, Somerset, Cornwall and other local counties for wedding flowers. Open 5 days a week and Saturday for deliveries, we have flower fridges full to bursting with fresh cut flowers, you can always rely on Hollyhocks for any special occasion especially if its a bit last minute we always have beautiful stock in.
